Alaska Army National Guard drill sergeant Sgt. 1st Class Jason Schlegel, along with other support staff assigned to the AKARNG Recruiting and Retention Battalion instruct Alaska's newest Guardsmen on Physical Readiness Training (PRT) as part of their drill weekend, Oct. 25, 2020. Army PRT achieves other valuable outcomes in addition to developing and maintaining a high level of individual and unit readiness. These outcomes include: basic military skills and survivability along with their intangible benefits. The basic military skills associated with PRT include foot marching, running, swimming, jumping, vaulting, climbing, crawling, lifting, and load carrying. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt.
