U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Michael L. Scalise, as the embarkation officer, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, during Operation Desert Storm in October, 1990. Scalise retired from the Marine Corps after 30 years of honorable service in November 2018. Scalise continues to serve the Marine Corps as the assistant chief of staff for Government and External Affairs for Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune on MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
