The most-recognizable symbol of Remembrance Sunday is the red poppy because hundreds of them bloomed in the former battlefields of Belgium and northern France following the end of World War I. Fort Bliss leaders laid red poppy wreaths in honor of the event during a ceremony held Nov. 8, 2020, at Fort Bliss, Texas.
