U.S. Marine Sgt. Christopher Young, a radio operator with 1st Brigade, 2nd Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, II Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, poses for a photo on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Nov. 17, 2020 . “Just be a good dude,” said Sgt. Young, a Sikeston, Mo, native. According to his leadership, Sgt. Young is a very determined, knowledgeable, and proficient radio operator with 2nd ANGLICO. Not only can he out perform his Marines with any task given, he constantly takes the initiative to make sure communications are always 100% in any environment. During MEFEX 21.1 he solely took charge of conducting a data over HF communications shot to Grayling, MI to make sure that 2nd ANGLICO is efficient and prepared for the execution of Northern Strike with communications assets for fire support. When no personnel was available due to operational requirements he took it upon himself to coordinate with Grayling, MI and build his HF asset to successfully pass data over HF, to include a fires 9-line. Sgt. Young is constantly teaching his young Marines on all communications assets and knowledge that will allow them to one day take the fight against the enemy in any austere environment.
