Dr. Alfred Cofrancesco, Jr. retired from his position as senior scientific technical manager and director of the Civil Works environmental research area for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, February 28, 2020. Described as a foundational member of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Environmental Laboratory, Cofrancesco played a key role in preventing Asian carp from invading the Great Lakes.
