DAHLGREN, Va. – The Gun and Electric Weapon Systems Department recognized Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) mechanical engineer Dr. David Hubble with the Extraordinary Innovation Award for his superb leadership and brilliant expertise shown while working on the Flat Plate Calorimeter (FPC). The FPC is an instrument designed to measure the power that high-energy lasers can deliver at tactically relevant distances. Today, Hubble continues to work on refining the FPC and enjoys his role. “It’s great to be performing heat transfer analysis again,” he said. “That is my background and it’s the part of mechanical engineering I most enjoy.” (U.S. Navy photo/Released)
