KINGS BAY, Ga. (Jan. 8, 2021) Capt. Craig Gummer, commodore, Submarine Squadron 20 (left) presents (from left to right) Cmdr. Patrick Bray, executive officer of the Gold Crew of the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Rhode Island (SSBN 740) with the prestigious Battle 'E' Award onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia. Rhode Island is one of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base and is capable of carrying up to 20 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with multiple warheads.
