A dummy 155 mm projectile is extracted from the barrel of an M777 Howitzer due to hydraulic pressure extraction techniques conducted by Marine Corps Base Camp Butler explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 25, 2021. EOD technicians and artillery Marines conducted normal M777 Howitzer firing procedures, however, dummy rounds were intentionally lodged in the 16.7 ft. barrel of the weapon system so each unit could demonstrate their extraction techniques. Following the preparation, each unit demonstrated their own extraction methodology. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Alex Fairchild)
