Ronald Mallory hugs his Vietnam battle buddy Fred Carter following a March 4 ceremony in which Mallory was presented the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device at the Army Transportation Museum, Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Mallory earned the medal for his Feb. 23, 1971 actions during a convoy attack. Carter, his noncommissioned officer in charge, led the effort to formally recognize Mallory.
