Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievement by African Americans and a time to recognize their central role in U.S. history. We chose Dyess Airmen who are impactful leaders to highlight throughout the month of February.
Capt. Malcolm Skinner is a 9th Bomb Squadron weapon systems officer and is responsible for performing as the offensive or defensive systems officer on the B-1B Lancer aircraft. His duties can vary depending on the mission and entail performing close air support for troops on the ground, using onboard sensors to protect the aircraft from enemy surface and air threats or launching standoff weapons.
“I hope that people will learn that African American Heritage Month is not and should not be limited to one month,” Skinner said. “African American people, culture and accomplishments are an integral part of American culture and history. I hope people will gain pertinent knowledge of all the contributions African Americans have made and continue to make for this country. We are a diverse people, and our strength, tenacity and courage will always shine through.”
