JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON – (March 9, 2021) Navy Counselor 1st Class Christopher Thomas (right), of San Antonio, an officer programs recruiter assigned to Talent Acquisition Onboarding Center (TAOC) Alamo City, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by Rear Adm. Dennis Velez, commander, Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) at Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) San Antonio headquarters. Thomas earned the award for being NRC’s National Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate Recruiter of the Year for Fiscal Year 2020. “This accomplishment was not made possible on my own,” said Thomas, a 2001 graduate of John Jay High School. “This past year has taught me that although working hard and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone can heed success, success cannot be achieved without an amazing team to support you along the way.” NRC consists of a command headquarters, three Navy Recruiting Regions, 26 NTAGs, and 64 Talent Acquisition Onboarding Centers (TAOCs) that serve more than 1,000 recruiting stations around the world.
