Members of the Maryland National Guard work alongside healthcare professionals at the mass vaccination site at the Wicomico Civic Center, on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Salisbury, Maryland on March 18, 2021. The site's first day was considered a soft opening with a vaccination capacity goal of around 500 a day for 3 days followed by 1,000 a day for 2 days, with an anticipated capacity goal of 1,500 a day. The MDNG has been activated to support Maryland's COVID-19 response by providing direct support to county health departments in assisting with the acceleration of vaccination and COVID-19 testing efforts.
