Meet U.S. Army Spc. Christian Morales, a native of Sebring, Florida, and combat medic with 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Normally working as a line medic attached to an infantry platoon, Morales says his mission at the Wolstein Community Vaccination Center in Cleveland doesn’t differ much from back home. “Getting to know the community members and hearing their stories is the same thing I do with my unit,” he said. “Getting to know the Soldiers in my unit allows me to know how I can best serve them as their medic.” The calling of his job as a medic is what has kept him going in the Army. “I originally joined just to get college,” Morales said. “But once I saw how much I can help people in this field I was motivated by something greater than myself.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing continued, flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency as part of the whole-of-government response to COVID-19.
