Soldiers, airmen and civilian employees stand outside Camp Chamberlain, the Maine National Guard's joint force headquarters in Augusta, Maine. Full time personnel had the option of donning purple April 21, 2021, in lieu of military uniform as a way of observing the Month of the Military Child. When any service member makes the decision to serve, so does that individual's family. Maine's Purple Up Day provided an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by children in military families.
