US Army Reserve Soldiers of the 307th Chemical Company, Bell, Calif., assist an acting nuclear event casualty during a mass-casualty training scenario at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, April 22. The scenario was part of Guardian Response, a multi-component Homeland Emergency Response Exercise, which tested the unit’s ability to handle reconnaissance and rescue, decontamination and medical treatment of casualties following a simulated nuclear attack on a large US city. The acting casualties added both realism and chaos to the scenario while pushing the Soldiers to turn training into action.
