U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Amber Staroscik, a senior drill instructor with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, receives the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for her distinguished acts during her time as the first female senior drill instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California on May 6, 2021. Staroscik volunteered to come to MCRD San Diego for her second tour of being a drill instructor in order to support the Marine Corps during these past few months of history with the first platoon of females training at the depot in San Diego.
