U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Klayton Curran, assigned to the 9th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, performs checks and maintenance on a static line prior to an airborne drop May 11, 2021 during Northern Edge 21. More than 50 U.S. Army paratroopers from Alaska's 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team 25th Infantry Division jumped from the MC-130J Commando II multimission combat transport/special operations aircraft from that static line near Ft. Greely, Alaska as part of a joint forcible entry operation. Approximately 15,000 U.S. service members are participating in a joint training exercise hosted by U.S. Pacific Air Forces May 3-14, 2021, on and above the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, the Gulf of Alaska, and temporary maritime activities area.
