Meet Croatian 2nd Lt. Eleonora Pucekovic, a military police officer serving as a platoon commander during DEFENDER-Europe 21. She is also a member of the force protection team. The primary task of military police during the exercise is to ensure the safety of all equipment and participants as well as implementing traffic safety on routes throughout Croatia. “The cooperation with members of the military police of the armed forces of the U.K. and the U.S. is at a very high level,” Pucekociv said. “When unloading and transporting a large number of vehicles and equipment from ships, members of each country knew what their role was and we functioned as a whole, as if we did not come from three different countries.”
DEFENDER- Europe 21 is a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between the U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year, more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Regions.
