Col. Ryan M. Hanson, outgoing commander, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team “IRONHORSE,” passes the Brigade colors to Brig. Gen. Brett Sylvia, acting commanding general, 1st Cavalry Division during the assumption of command ceremony, Zagan, Poland, May 14. The assumption of command is a military tradition representing the transfer of authority and command of the IRONHORSE Brigade from Hanson to Col. Jon W. Meredith. Hanson relinquished command of the Brigade and will become the U.S. Army Garrison Fort Jackson commander. The IRONHORSE Brigade is currently deployed across Europe in support of Atlantic Resolve.
