U.S. Coast Guardsmen utilize a HC-130J Super Hercules to search for simulated downed pilots off the coast of Cape Lookout, North Carolina, May 18, 2021. U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Marine Corps units within the Mid-Atlantic Region participated in a realistic scenario in order to build relationships for potential search and rescue events. 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) does not possess organic search and rescue resources. In the event that an aircraft belonging to the USMC goes down in the ocean, 2nd MAW would coordinate search and rescue efforts through the USCG. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Elias E.
