This Fort Riley Friday we ride back to the historic cavalry post.
Quarters 4 Barry Avenue was built in 1903 as field officer's quarters. It was constructed with limestone walls and foundation, wood and concrete floors and a slate roof.
Quarters 4 is significant in that it was the only single family officer's quarters built in 1903. It is nearly identical to its neighbors, Quarters 2 and 5 Barry Ave. Since it was built, Quarters 4 has continuously served as housing for field grade officers.
