Congressman Rob Whittman joined members of the Stafford County government and local business leaders to cut the ribbon on the Virginia Smart Community Testbed in Stafford, Va. on May 25. The testbed is a key element of the Smart Communities initiatives developed by the Center for Innovative Technologies (CIT). CIT initiatives focus on defining and piloting emerging technology sectors that are important for economic growth in Virginia. MCICOM exercises command and control of Marine Corps installations via regional commanders in order to provide oversight, direction and coordination of installation services and to optimize support to the Operating Forces, tenants and activities (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cathy Close).
