Plymouth, Mass., native, Army Pfc. Michael Weymouth (right), is presented with a commander’s coin from Lt. Col. Wyatt Lowery, commander of the 980th Engineer Battalion, Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Weymouth, a soldier with the 569th Engineer Company, received the coin after finding his active duty unit’s 100th improvised explosive device. The 569th, headquartered at Fort Carson, Colo., has been conducting route clearance patrols in southern Afghanistan since February of this year. Weymouth is credited with 32 of the 100 IEDs found.
