Rear Adm. Joseph Hornbuckle (right), Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (FRC), and Rear Adm. Ken Epps, Commander, Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP WSS) engage in discussion during a visit to NAVSUP WSS in Philadelphia Aug. 10. The commanders participated in a detailed review of ongoing efforts of the Naval Sustainment System – Supply’s Optimize Organic pillar. Teams put emphasis on identifying root causes and corrective actions behind challenges and issues preventing FRC’s from competing with their competitor repair facilities in commercial industry. As a result, this event represented a significant step in continuous efforts toward resolving long standing issues with forecasting accuracy, component unit pricing, and other throughput constraints. Designed to place Navy’s organic repair framework on a path to maximize its capability and identify areas for further development, results from this engagement will ensure viability and resilience of this strategic capability critical to national defense.
