210813-N-JW440-3380 ARABIAN GULF (Aug. 13, 2021) A Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) fires during a live-fire exercise aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67 in the Arabian Gulf, Aug. 13. Shiloh is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
