A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon assigned to the 18th Aggressor Squadron, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, approaches the boom of a KC-135 Stratotanker during RED FLAG-Alaska 21-3 over the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, Aug. 18, 2021. The strength of the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex is its expansive co-located air and land ranges as well as a significant potential for co-located air and sea ranges. RF-A 21-3 is a Pacific Air Forces-sponsored exercise designed to provide realistic training in a simulated combat environment. A series of commander-directed field training exercises provide joint offensive counter-air, interdiction, close air support, and large force employment training.
