An unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile launches from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, during an Air Force Global Strike Command operational test, Aug. 11. The vehicle impacted in a pre-established target zone roughly 4,200 miles away near the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command’s Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. During these tests, RTS personnel provide cradle-to-grave support for every mission, which includes requirements definition for the test, environmental impact assessment, range scheduling, range safety and logistical support.
