Members Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 1's Construction Dive Detachment Bravo (CDDB) and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 133 work to pour concrete in Spiral 1 pile jackets and simultaneously work to install a Spiral 4 expedient mooring point as part of the Expeditionary Port Damage Repair (ExPDR) training evolution during the Navy’s Large Scale Exercise 2021.
Pile wrapping is the first spiral of four and expedient moorings are the fourth spiral of four in the Port Improvement via Exigent Repair Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (PIER JCTD). PIER JCTD solutions are one of many methods used to improve port infrastructure during major combat operations (MCO) around the globe.
The all-hands effort, commanded by UCT 1 as part of an adaptive force package, demonstrated the full spectrum of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Force (NECF), including: Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit TWO, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit TWO, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO, and NMCB 133.
