Fort McCoy observes Patriot Day and the 20th anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The post is among many military installations within the Department of Defense worldwide that observed Patriot Day with ceremonies and shared memories. Patriot Day is the day chosen to remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11 in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania. It is also a day to honor those who helped to save lives that day or those who ended up losing their lives due to injuries or trauma after Sept. 11, 2001. (Photo illustration by Scott T.
