U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Anh D. Nyugen, a communications chief with Task Force Koa Moana 21, I
Marine Expeditionary Force, roleplays as a plane crash victim during a mass casualty exercise in Airai,
Republic of Palau, Sept. 15, 2021. The exercise tested Palau’s first response capabilities and ensured first
responders were equipped to handle any potential aircraft emergency. Training for interoperability
allows the U.S. and partner nations to be ready when responding to crises, including natural disasters.
