U.S. Air Force Ret. Lt. Col. Darrel Cline stands in front of a North American P-51 Mustang static display aircraft Oct. 21, 2021, at Fresno Air National Guard Base, Calif. When Cline was a second lieutenant in the 1950s, he flew the displayed aircraft from Norton Air Force Base, San Bernardino, to its current location in Fresno. Cline served 25 years in the Air National Guard and retired in 1976. His family believes him to be one of the few remaining pilots trained to fly the P-51 in California.
