Matthew Hottinger, an aviation logistics information management systems specialist with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 39, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, fires an M16A4 service rifle during pre-qualification for the new annual rifle qualification at Range 116A on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 27, 2021. The new qualification features a three-day course of fire emphasizing lethality and positional shooting. The three days break down into a practice day, pre-qualification and qualification.
