Members of the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (NMCP) disinterment team, along with members of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) prepare for a disinterment ceremony at the NMCP in Honolulu, Hawaii, Nov. 1, 2021. The ceremony was part of DPAA’s efforts to disinter and identify the remains of unknown serviced members lost during World War II. DPAA’s mission is to achieve the fullest possible accounting for missing and unaccounted-for U.S. personnel to their families and our nation (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Apryl Hall).
