This graphic depicts U.S. Air Force Capt. Lance P. Sijan and the dormitories at the U.S. Air Force Academy named after him, Sijan Hall. Sijan was awarded with the Medal of Honor posthumously in 1976 for his extraordinary heroism and courage to stay true to the Code of Conduct as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. “He was an inspiring figure as a combat pilot, and his story demonstrates tenacity, grit, courage and sacrifice that we all hoped we could measure up to someday,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Benjamin Jonsson, 6th Air Refueling Wing commander. “It still inspires me today.” (U.S. Air Force graphic by Airman 1st Class Joshua Hastings)
