The NNSY-built destroyer escort USS Barber (DE-161), shown here in May 1943 prior to its launching, was named for the three Barber brothers who died at their battle stations when USS Oklahoma (BB-37) sank at Pearl Harbor. The ship was sponsored by their mother, Mrs. Peter Barber.
