U.S. Army Infantrymen with Third Platoon, Blackfoot Company, 111th Infantry Regiment, pose for a photo holding M4 carbine assault rifles on Jan. 7, 2022, at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. Using a training range on Army Support Activity Dix, Soldiers conducted Situational Training Exercise Lanes (STX Lanes) and other contact drill training exercises to enhance combat readiness. STX Lanes are designed to simulate a search and attack before initial contact is made with the enemy, where moving undetected is critical to a favorable engagement. The 111th Infantry Regiment has Colonial roots in the American Revolution and was founded by Benjamin Franklin on Nov. 21, 1747. It is Pennsylvania’s oldest regiment and often assisted George Washington and the Continental Army alongside the Delaware River.
