    16th Sustainment Brigade

Functional equipment is arguably one of the most crucial components of completing any mission. Without fully mission capable equipment it will be near impossible to preform missions and requirements. This is not an issue for the 1st Inland Cargo Transfer Company, 39th Movement Control Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade. Their maintenance program is impeccable and they routinely maintain an above standard operational readiness on all their equipment. This is why for the second year in a row they were awarded the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence by Major General Smith, signed of by General Christopher G. Cavoli, the commanding general of United States Army Europe and Africa. During the 39th MCB formation Captain Lovely, the Company Commander of 1st ICTC, received the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence for his Companies outstanding achievement. This award is by no means easily obtained, as only one company can win it annually - yet 1st ICTC has done it twice in a row! The award is focused around improving and keeping standards regarding field maintenance readiness, understanding how maintenance can effect unit readiness, improving methods to maintain a high operational readiness while reducing waste, and recognizing those who make this program successful. The 1st ICTC has fulfilled all of these tasks exceptionally well. As Major General Smith described each mission occupational specialty has its own part in the overall success of any maintenance program. The supply specialist must ensure the parts required are ordered, the mechanics must ensure those parts are installed correctly, and the leaders must conduct meetings and ensure overall readiness and planning is tracked. Together it is a team effort and in this instance 1st ICTC was the winning team.
