U.S. Marines with 3rd Landing Support Battalion (LSB), Alpha Company, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, connect an air defense missile silo a Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter assigned to Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 466 (on deployment to Okinawa as part of the unit deployment program) during an external lift at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 27, 2022. 3rd LSB held this exercise as a proof of concept for external lifts, to build on the Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations concept and to improve interoperability with the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment.
