CRYSTAL CITY, VA. (Feb. 16, 2022) – Members of the F-35 Dual Capable Aircraft Team are recognized for outstanding weapons system development during a small awards ceremony at the F-35 Joint Program Office headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Charles “CQ” Brown chose the 26-person F-35 DCA Team as the recipient of the prestigious Order of Daedalians Colonel Franklin C. Wolfe Weapons System Award for 2020 in recognition of the team’s efforts that year to complete a vital developmental test campaign a full year ahead of original schedule. This test campaign is a critical step toward nuclear certification of the Air Force’s F-35 A variant. F-35 Program Executive Officer Lt. Gen. Eric Fick (second from left) and Past Commander of the Order of the Daedalians, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Nicholas B. Kehoe (third from left) presented the award to F-35 Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA) Team Materiel Leader Lt. Col. Jason W. Shirley (far left) and 461st Flight Test Squadron/Director, F-35 Integrated Test Force Lt. Col. Christopher “SIN” Campbell (far right). The award is presented annually to military or civilian individuals, groups or an organization determined to have contributed the most outstanding weapons system development which operates, in whole or in part, in the aerospace environment. The F-35 Joint Program Office is the Department of Defense's focal point for the 5th generation strike aircraft for the U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, as well as for our International Partners and Foreign Military Sales Customers. The F-35 is the premier multi-mission, 5th generation weapon system. Its ability to collect, analyze and share data is a force multiplier that enhances all assets in the battle-space: with stealth technology, advanced sensors, weapons capacity, and range. The F-35, which has been operational since July of 2015, is the most survivable, and interoperable fighter aircraft ever built. (Photo by America Henry-Wingo)
