220302-N-JO245-1023 PRUDHOE BAY, Alaska (March 2, 2022) – Bruce Billian (left) a chief scientist, and Tyler Brant, an engineer, assigned to Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic, removes snow from satellite communications equipment in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Billian and Brant tested the gear in northern Alaska’s extreme cold before moving it up to Ice Camp Queenfish during the U.S. Navy’s Ice Exercise (ICEX) 2022. ICEX 2022 is a three-week exercise that allows the Navy to assess its operational readiness in the Arctic, increase experience in the region, advance understanding of the Arctic environment, and continue to develop relationships with other services, allies and partner organizations.
