Al-Adamiya, Baghdad, Iraq | USAID/Iraq Governance and Performance Accountability (IGPA/Takamul) Project
"Everyone’s responsibility. “All citizens, even persons with disabilities (PWD), have a role to play in the community,” was the message conveyed by this environment and sanitation campaign conducted by the Baghdad Mayoralty Social Accountability Group (SAG), the Technical Working Group (TWG), and the Voice of the Disabled Organization. In this campaign in Baghdad’s al-Adamiya District, PWDs went from house to house to encourage citizens to take care of their surroundings and distributed informational materials, trash bags, and plantlets. The USAID IGPA/Takamul Project supported these efforts by training and mentoring the participating organizations in effective community outreach and monitoring the delivery of basic public services.
