Wasla is a ride-booking service created by Yasser, Omar, and Mustafa, three students from the Northern Technical University. The idea came to them when they noticed that many of the female university students were having difficulty finding safe and reasonably priced taxis, especially in the evening.
The three friends took part in the USAID-supported Entrepreneurship Program, which helped them refine their business plan and even connected them with sources of financing in order to purchase computer hardware needed to finalize their mobile software.
"The Entrepreneurship Program was essential in providing us with the knowledge to develop our skills in launching a start-up," said Omer, one of the creators of Wasla, "I want to thank USAID for this training for building entrepreneurs in Ninewa."
