Timothy Waterman, a class officer assigned to Officer Training Command, Newport (OTCN), Rhode Island, returns a salute to an Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 08-22 student during an Officer Personnel Inspection (OPI). OPI measures a candidate officer’s knowledge about any topic eligible for inspection and checks for confidence and competence while wearing the seasonal uniform that will be worn for graduation. OCS morally, mentally, and physically develops civilians and fleet sailors into newly commissioned officers and imbues them with the highest ideals of honor, courage, and commitment to prepare graduates for service in the fleet as Naval officers.
