Lt. Col. Shaun Cruze, commander 152nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Tech. Sgt. Cody Sharkey and Col. Brian Gunderson, Nevada Air National Guard Director of Staff-Air pose after Sharkey was awarded the Nevada Medal of Valor to during the April unit training assembly roll call at Nevada Air National Guard Base, Reno. Sharkey distinguished himself by rendering first aid to an injured motorist after pulling the motorist from their smoking vehicle that had been struck by another vehicle on Oct. 20, 2020. Later in November of 2020, he witnessed another accident and blocked traffic to prevent additional accidents. This award is presented for heroism on or off duty involving voluntary risk of life while serving in any capacity with the Nevada National Guard.
