    Maj. Gen. Michael C. Thompson, former Adjutant General for Oklahoma, stands with his sons and wife, Debbie, during his retirement ceremony held at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City, April 15, 2022. Thompson joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1983 as an enlisted Soldier. He later commissioned to second lieutenant in 1986 through the Oklahoma Military Department Officer Candidate School. Before being appointed as the Adjutant General for Oklahoma, Thompson recent positions include Assistant Adjutant General-Army, Land Component Commander and Commander of 90th Troop Command. Over the course of his officer career, Thompson has commanded at the company, battalion and brigade levels. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and 2008.
