Senior leaders and other members of the 734th Regional Support Group, Iowa Army National Guard, wore jeans to participate in Denim Day at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, on April 27, 2022. Denim Day originated in protest of an Italian court case in 1999. The Italian High Court overturned a sexual assault conviction based on the argument that the victim must have helped remove her tight jeans. This decision spurred protests first in Italy, then across the world. More than 20 years later, the U.S. military encourages service members to take off the uniform for a day and remind others that clothing does not equal consent.
