The Idaho Army National Guard’s 1st of the 148th Field Artillery Regiment conducted live-fire training using the M109A6 Paladin and over 80 high explosive rounds during its annual training at the Orchard Combat Training Center, May 12 to 27, 2022. Training included its first live-fire exercise using the U.S. Army’s modernized M1156 Precision Guidance Kit, a GPS smart fuze attachment, that enabled the battalion to convert its existing 155mm artillery shells into smart weapons and improve target trajectory.
