FORT HOOD, TX -- Troopers with 6th Battalion, 56th Air Defense Artillery, Division Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division, stand in formation as the battalion is activated, and Lt. Col. Sam Pearson III assumes command of the unit, March 24, 2022, at Cooper Field, on Fort Hood, TX.
The activation of the 6th Battalion 56th Regiment is another phase of the ongoing modernization of 1st CAV, America’s First Team, and enables the division to field the Mobile Short Range Air Defense System or M-SHORAD system
