    Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES)

Gunnery Sgt. Leonard Martinez, a senior air traffic controller with Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS) 24 Detachment A, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, poses for a portrait photo at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., on July 18, 2022. Martinez, who is originally from San Antonio, TX, spent almost 10 years on active duty before transitioning to the Reserve Component, where he has served for five years. Martinez is an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration and felt that he had more to offer to his Marines because of his civilian experience. He has enjoyed his time as a Reserve Marine and encourages current active duty Marines to consider continuing their service in the Marine Corps Reserve. "Anybody transitioning, I would venture to say take a look at a reserve unit. It’s non-obligated, you don’t have any commitment, but you definitely have an opportunity to continue leading Marines and continue having an impact on the organization."
