KINGS BAY, Ga. (July 18, 2022) Cmdr. John Smith (right) commanding officer of the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Alaska (SSBN 732) Blue Crew, briefs Rear Adm. William Wheeler, Chief of Staff of U.S. Strategic Command, in the control center aboard the ship, while visiting Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia. Alaska is one of six ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base, providing the most survivable leg of the strategic deterrence triad for the United States.
